As everyone knows, buying a used car or used car, van or truck can be tricky. Even going to a used car dealer reputable can lead to problems if you do not know what you're doing, so bidding in an auction of vehicles seized, for example, would be suicide without help and guidance.
You may have seen ads or newspaper articles about these 'secret' government auctions where vehicles have prices so low that it is almost criminal! There is little point in learning after these 'auctions' that occurred when? What is the point of that. You really need to know about them before they occur, can at least be in the same. That said, a question that I always wanted to know the answer to (before I knew) was that if these cars, vans, trucks, motorcycles etc. were so cheap – WHY? Was there something wrong with them now or what? The answer is very simple.
Most of these vehicles are from people who have had their equipment confiscated by the authorities for one reason or another. They might have committed a crime (drug trafficking, for example) or have to pay their taxes, depreciation and the like, and some come from various government departments which are surplus needs. Most, but not all, are in very good condition, and have a good service history, regular maintenance and overall care. Some are only 1 or 2 years old! They are selling cheap just to get rid of them. The powers who feel will cost them more in the storage and maintenance wait for "market" prices, so therefore they are put into these auctions of confiscated vehicles.
When they come through these "special" auctions (I'll show you how later), there are some tips to keep in mind that you do not buy a puppy.
1. Look through the list before the auction, and make a short list of those that interest you. This can usually be done online.
2. Do a search online to the generally known problems with this brand of vehicle. Most technical problems have been known to seek.
3. Set a realistic budget. Discover fair market value and look no more than 70% of those who, like a higher price.
4. Remember that this is an auction. Dealers try to get the best, but have to limit excess.
5. If you can attend the auction, you take an expert to advise on the ones you like, you can make all the difference.
6. If the offer online, see the first offerings of others. If only a few are bidding is probably a puppy. Never mind.
7. If you do not get what you you do not worry, when you know there will be many others go to the offer in the future!
8. Do not forget. These vehicles are bought 'as is' or "as seen" so there will be no warranty or guarantee money back.
A word of caution
Repossessed vehicles auctions that happen. Most these days have access from the Internet, so when you know when and where they are carried out, join in its auction page and get ready! If you're patient and thorough preparations there is no reason at all that you can not get a car of their dreams for a substantial discount on the normal market value. Good luck.
